Saving your Password
on the Windows 95 "Connect to" screen.
Adding the "Network Neighborhood" icon to
your desktop will usually allow you to save your password on the "SAMnet
Connect to" screen.
Step 1:
Open the Control Panel, then double click the Network
Icon. Click the "Add" button, select "Client" then "Add".
Select "Microsoft" under the Manufactures section, and then select "Client
for Microsoft Networks" which will be on the right side, click "Ok".
You may have to supply a workgroup or name for your computer. If so,
it will be on the "Identification Tab". Please enter the following: Computer
name="Default", Workgroup="Workgroup", and Computer
Description="Default". Click "Ok".
Step 2:
Once the "Network Neighborhood" has been added, you will be asked to restart
your computer, say Yes. When windows restarts it will ask you for a login name (you can
use your SAMnet Internet User ID here), and a password (leave the password field
blank), Click "Ok". It will ask you to confirm the password, just click
"Ok".
If you entered a password, you will need to type that password every
time you start Windows.
Step 3:
You should now see the "Network Neighborhood"
icon on your desktop. The next time you connect to SAMnet you will probably have to enter
your user ID (User Name), and password. The "Save Password" button should now be
available, put a check in the checkbox. Your password will be saved once you have been
logged onto SAMnet. :-)
