| Track Day - GENERAL INFO |
Track Days are NOT races!!! If you are looking to race with your buddies - please go somewhere else. We don't mind seeing "follow the leader" type riding, but any type of "dicing" will not be tolerated. Anyone caught engaging in this behavior will be asked to leave immediately - NO REFUND! The goal of a Track Day is to provide you with a relatively safe environment to explore the limits of your bike - while you expand your own personal limits. All skill levels are welcome. You will choose the "group" that most closely matches your riding ability and comfort level. Within a group, the faster riders are responsible for SAFELY passing the slower riders. EVERYONE will have the opportunity to follow an experienced rider around the track several times. Additionally, personal instruction is available for the asking. Don't be intimidated by the word "TRACK". If you can ride on the street, you can ride on the track. It is merely a "road" with much of the distraction removed. So please - sign up and have
fun. |

Infield / Garage area open - 7:00am to 6:00pm
On track time - 9:00am to 5:00pm (Each group is on the track 20 minutes per hour, for a total of 2 hours and 40 minutes of track time)
Directions to Track: NHIS is located in Loudon, NH on Rt.106, approximately 10 miles north of Concord, NH.
From the south, take I-93 to exit 15E (I-393). Take Exit #3. Turn onto Rt. 106 North. NHIS will be 10 miles north on the right.
From the North, take I-93 to the Tilton Exit #20 to Rt. 140 through Belmont to Rt. 106 South. Follow Rt. 106 South to the Speedway which is approximately 8 miles.
Things you'll need:
Fuel - The track pumps will be open twice during the day, but the cost is quite high (like $4.00 per gallon for 110 octane race fuel). Personally, I recommend you have a full tank of gas plus a 5 gallon jug - that should be enough to get you through the day. Otherwise, you'll have to pay the $4.
Liquids - We will have some water and sports drinks available, but you should probably bring your own also. Not being well hydrated is a quick way to get brain fade and crash.
Motorcycle Preparation:
If you are not riding your bike to the track, please have your bike prepped prior to arrival.
If your bike is not ready to be checked out during the tech inspection period, you will have to wait until there is a break for someone to tech your bike.
NO bikes will be allowed on the track without a TECH STICKER.
If you are caught on the track without a tech sticker or a signed waiver, you will be asked to leave and BANNED from all future TRACK DAYS!
Mandatory Items: (these items will be checked at tech inspection)
1. Your mirrors must be completely taped and folded in, if possible. Personally, I recommend removing them completely as it is one less thing to break if you crash.
2. Headlights and taillights must be COMPLETELY taped over. NO LIGHT can show through... especially the tail light!!! After taping, turn on the lights and tap the brake to verify. If you are leaving the turn signals on, please tape them over as well. The purpose of the tape is to keep them in one piece if you crash.
3. Make sure that all other fasteners (body hardware, brake caliper bolts, etc.) are properly tightened.
IMPORTANT! Go around the bike, and put a wrench or screwdriver on EVERY nut, bolt and screw you can find.
Pay special attention to your Oil Drain Plug, Oil Filter, Levers, and Exhaust brackets.
4. Tires must be in EXCELLENT condition with plenty of tread remaining.
5. Chain or Belt must be in EXCELLENT condition with no signs of RUST or DEGRADATION.
6. All levers and controls must operate freely. Throttle must SNAP BACK to the off position when released.
Recommended Items: (Not Mandatory)
1. Safety Wire your oil drain plug so it cannot come loose.
2. If you have a spin on type oil filters, put a hose clamp around the filter, and then wire the clamp to prevent the filter from spinning loose. If you're filter is behind a cover, drill and wire the access bolt.
3. If your bike is water cooled, Remove the anti-freeze and replace it with straight water, or water with a water pump lubricant such as WaterWetter by RED LINE.
NOTE: The RECOMMENDED items are just that. They are not required, and while they may be a little time consuming, they could end up preventing a life threatening situation. You will probably ride your bike harder than ever before, and there is a tendency for things to come loose that would not do so under normal riding conditions. Overheating problems, or even a minor crash, can result in oil or coolant being dumped onto the track. NO ONE CAN RIDE UNTIL IT GETS CLEANED UP, and since there is not a regular cleanup crew, it takes a long time to do this.
Protective Gear:
There's a good saying that covers this section: Dress for the crash, not the ride!
I don't mean to scare you, but you should dress as though you were going to crash!! This goes for EVERY time you get on your bike...regardless of whether you're going on the track or not.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. HELMET - An UNDAMAGED full-faced helmet with a SNELL 95 or 2000 certification (or equivalent). If your helmet is more than 5 years old, please replace it...a helmet's ability to protect you degrades over time, even if it has not been involved in a crash.
2. GLOVES - Full leather gloves that leave NO EXPOSED SKIN on the hands or wrist.
3. BOOTS - Over the ankle boots, preferably leather.
4. LEATHERS - Full leathers are not mandatory, but are highly encouraged. If you don't own leathers, try to borrow a set.
Aerostich type suits are acceptable
If you absolutely cannot find a full suit, you can ride in jeans and a leather jacket. If you do this, please wear 2 pairs of jeans and some sort of knee protection. "Rollerblading" type pads work well. Surprisingly, this combination will work pretty good if you don't spend a long time sliding on the pavement.
Lodging:
There is a RED ROOF INN located about 8 miles from the track on the same road. This is the closest lodging, although Concord, NH has many others.
You may want to consider staying over the night before... especially if you have over 2 hours travel. You will be a lot fresher in the morning and will be able to put in a better day's work!! :-)
Miscellaneous:
A limited number of garage bays will be available for our use on a "first come-first served" basis. Please make sure to fit at least 5 bikes per garage bay.
Otherwise, you'll be outside in the sun... or rain. :-)
EVERYONE will be responsible for helping to clean up the garages and pit area at the end of the day.
