To get to your Dial-Up Networking section in Windows ME, follow these simple instructions :

1. Click on the "Start" button. 
2. Click on "Settings". 
3. Click on "Dial-Up Networking". 
4. Locate your SAMnet connection icon (likely named "SAMnet") and right-click it.  
5. On the context menu, click on "Properties". This will launch the properties window for your connection.

Now, you can check the settings on each tab listed in the window. The only two tabs that we need to deal with are the "General" and the "Server Types" tab. Under the "General" tab, be sure your local access number is typed in correctly. If you do not know your access number, click here to find it.

Click on the "Server Types" tab. You'll find a list of checkboxes here. Be sure only "Enable software compression" and "TCP/IP" are checked. If any other boxes are checked, uncheck them.
