 Mac DNS Changes

If the problem is manifested by a connection but they cannot go anywhere in IE or Netscape, they need to change the DNS numbers in the TCP/IP.

In Operating System (OS) 7.x, 8.x or 9.x (x being any number or pair of numbers)...

With no applications open...go to the Apple Menu (top left side of screen), click on it and go down to "Control Panels".  Then on that sub-menu, go over to TCP/IP and click.

With the TCP/IP window now open, look for the old DNS numbers (208.133.252.4...), highlight them (or just delete them) and type "4.2.2.1" followed by hitting the return key and typing "4.2.2.2".  Then close that window and save changes when prompted.  No reboot required...they can now connect and all should be well.

In OS X (operating system 10), they need to open the "System Preferences", then click on "Network".  In that window, they should see the old DNS numbers (208.133...) and change them to the "4.2.2.1..."   Lastly, save changes and they should be all set...BUT, in OS X, a reboot may be required (if it doesn't work instantly after changing those DNS numbers).
